All deviants can now write Critiques
:star: Be a giver!
Sometimes you come across a deviation that deserves special attention. It catches your eye in such a way that you're compelled to craft a response that goes above and beyond a normal comment. Or perhaps a fellow deviant is having a tough time with a particular aspect of their work, and you know just what they need to take their art to the next level. As a good Internet citizen and art enthusiast, you want to help them out, but a normal comment doesn't quite suit your purpose.
For these situations and more, we've given everyone the ability to write a Critique.
:? What is Critique?

My biological mother’s name is Anna and my father is Peter. They met in high school when she was sixteen. He was her first kiss, I think. I’m not sure if she was his. At the time of my conception, they had known each other for two years. I don’t know why he was home from college in the middle of a semester, but I imagine that my mother was the light in the dark depths of February, I imagine it had something to do with her her thick curls, her hazel eyes, her tender mouth shaped just like mine, here. I imagine it was her laugh that he loved the most.
My mother did not laugh when I came into this world and into her hands. Sh

PSA for Artists! Don't make the same mistake I did
I've been posting some video tutorials to teach aspiring artists my drawing techniques, but I think it's very important to learn from my mistakes as well.
I'm 25 right now, and I've been drawing all my life. I started drawing a lot more and professionally when I was about 19-20. I drew all the time and didn't think much about it. I would draw until I'm in pain, from sitting too long, from not eating because I was in the flow and didn't want to stop. I would get terrible back pains and even heart palpitations from sitting in the same position drawing for so long.
That's when the nails on my right hand started to get weird and lumpy. At first
I finally realized that my traumatic past has been catching up to me. My unresolved fears and pain of abandonment as a child by my parents has seeped into my adult life. It triggers extreme reactions in me that drives people close to me away.
I like to pretend to be strong. That whatever comes at me in life, I'll just pull myself up again and get over it. I'd like to believe that what doesn't kill me makes me stronger. I'd like to pretend that if I somehow draw out pain, and put it on canvas, that the pain will be contained on canvas, and not deep inside me. But that's not true.
When I'm knocked down and broken, and left to pick up the piece

Sailor Moon is back!
The superhero girl–powered team of BFFs has returned to the small screen in a big way.
Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, this beloved anime series is inspiring a whole new generation of fans with the recently released Sailor Moon Crystal. Unlike its earlier predecessor, this version of the anime stays true to Takeuchi’s original manga in both story and art style. Takeuchi was ahead of her time in providing a solid femal

Welcome.
Many of you have been in this community for a long time, but whether you’ve just joined or you’ve been a member since day one, this is your first impression of the new DeviantArt.
Change is not something that we take lightly, because it affects our collective identity. It was important for us to define who we are and what we’re made of at our core before we changed anything. We all have our own understanding of what that means, but the process of getting that core story down on paper took almost a year.
The result is “Bleed and Breed Art.&
so... sunstone book 1 was the fifth place on the top seller graphic novels lists
this was your doing and you have my sincere thanks.
i did not expect this. sunstone was never supposed to be a moneymaker project and will continue to be a free webcomic to it's very end. but your support meant a lot
last year was tough...
you noticed that my output was significantly lower...well... in the number of strips, but taking into consideration the much longer strips of chapter 4, difference is not that drastic.
there was a reason for this. i kept alluding to a family health crisis. i prefer to keep these things to myself
but now that this is

McCall's Patterns + Yaya Han = Cosplay patterns!
Today is an incredibly exciting day!!!
I feel incredibly lucky that on my birthday, I can finally reveal a long-awaited dream come true with all of you.
McCall's Patterns reached out to me last year to see if I would like to design some patterns for them. (Still reeling over this sentence, btw.) I had a meeting and lovely tour of their offices, and then got to work. My ideas were overflowing, but I knew exactly which patterns I wanted to design first...
We're proud to present "Yaya Han's Ultimate Bodysuit Pattern" as the first finished collaboration between McCall's Patterns and me.
It's a pattern we are sorely missing in the cospl
